PROJECT SHART PT. DOO — INTRODUCTION

PROJECT SHART PT. DOO — INTRODUCTION

For those of you that have been following our blogs… you probably noticed we added Project SHART to our stable of race cars here at NissanRaceShop.com.  We had big plans to turn this little gem into a full blown race car.  But like an enthusiastic Obama supporter, we believe in “Change”!!!  The idea of tearing this little car apart broke our hearts.  I mean seriously, for a 20 year old car, it’s just too nice to disturb.

So in comes Pt. Doo…

Previously built and driven by George Peters, this car was already gutted and caged and ready for a new heart transplant.  Its purpose in life was to be a Cup Car, but now its preparing to do battle in the MotoIQ Pacific Tuner Car Championship series owned and driven by our very own Scott VanderHeide, Motorsports Director at Fontana Nissan/NissanRaceShop.com

Purchased as a rolling chassis, we were in need of a new motor and transmission.  With the original Project SHART car, we had plans to swap out the auto tranny for an NX2000 5 speed tranny.  Already acquired and built, we will be using this setup with the new Pt. Doo project.  We also have a brand new ACT Heavy Duty Clutch with Street Disk and Aasco Lightweight Flywheel just waiting to get dropped in as well.

We also just picked up a new CSF Racing Radiator.  It is very important to keep temps low when out on track for extended periods of time.  A high quality radiator is a must…and this CSF Radiator should do the trick!

What is going to be powering this little track monster?  A JDM Pulsar GTi-R motor of course!!!  This SR20DET puts out 227hp and 210 tq.  In stock form, it should be perfect for the 12 to 1 power to weight ratio class in the MotoIQ series.

Ok, I have to say it….George, what were you thinking with the Black and Yellow???  Is it because of the song?  Or do you have an infactuation with bumble bees?  Seriously???  Since the theme here is “Change”, there’s going to be a whole lot of it coming soon.  So we are going to start with the seats.  We just picked up a pair of Buddy Club P1 Edition race seats.  These lightweight seats should hold our driver in place while he defys physics on the track.  And the best part…they just look so cool!!!!

Stay tuned for more updates as we build this in preparation for the MotoIQ Pacific Tuner Car Championship Series!
