Good news and bad news from testing. The good news is that testing on Friday in Norcal and on Saturday in Socal revealed that a year of optimizations has made the CA Sport Nissan 370Z substantially quicker than last year, as well as easier to drive, reports the team. The bad news is that it ran TOO well and the crew cancelled Sunday’s testing here in Socal when I was set to get into the car. Now that piece of news isn’t actually that bad considering the goal to put as little mileage as possible on the car before a long endurance race.
I personally already have hundreds of laps at the Thunderhill Raceway and I am very familiar with the vehicle platform, so I am a lot more excited that the team had made so much progress on the car than I was disappointed to not get into the car yet. Especially the engine, transmission and steering components are items we want to keep really fresh before a race, because it is at race time it matters to be in the car and that it runs.
A couple of quick updates about the race:
– NASA will offer Live Timing from the entire race at www.nasa25hour.com
– Some teams, perhaps including us, will provide live stream video from the race if the network speeds around the track will be good enough to do it reliably. I will share as soon as I know more.
– The driver line-up looks great. We have current Le Mans, Pirelli World Challenge & IMSA racers onboard
– Excellent sponsorship opportunities are still available
